Lesson 13

Image Animation

We’ve skipped over Lessons 11 & 12 because they are games that we’re not doing in this class. This might help us catch up to learn other things that are more relevant to what we are doing. I hope to cover ajax in this class.

Today we cover moving backgrounds and sprites. Download the following zip file for our images in the demo: background-images . In that zip file you will find a number of images that we will apply to our demos. They are yours to use and do with as you please. While there is a pre-made sprite for our game, we will be using photoshop to go through the process of making this sprite, so you can know how make your own.

We’ll also be using a plugin called Spritely – which you can get at Spritely.net It is also available via a CDN.

In our class game, Dragon Flight, we’ll be taking images and adding them, so you’ll need the demo from where we left off and these images: dragon flight images.

If you forget how to make sprite sheets, review with this tutorial.
